Introduction

The « First Aider Recertification – Early Childhood (6h) » training is specifically designed to meet the regulatory requirements applicable to early childhood settings, offering targeted preparation for emergency situations involving young children. Lasting eight hours, this training is essential for everyone who works closely with young children, providing them with the skills needed to effectively manage emergencies, including severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.

It is particularly relevant for educators, parents, and all early childhood professionals, allowing them to acquire precise techniques for managing emergencies specific to children.

Certification upon completion of the training

Participants will receive the « First Aider – Adapted to Early Childhood (8h) » certification, attesting to their child-specific first aid skills, valid for 3 ans. This certification meets the regulatory requirements applicable to early childhood settings.

Course objective

This training meets the regulatory requirements for early childhood settings and is specially designed to train participants in the essential child-specific first aid skills. The objectives:

  • Manage respiratory and cardiac emergencies in young children: recognize and respond to cardiopulmonary arrest and airway obstruction specifically in infants and young children — age-appropriate CPR and safe use of the AED.
  • Master emergency first aid for early childhood: hemorrhage, fractures, states of shock, and other common emergencies in children, in accordance with the latest standards of care.
  • Prevent accidents and infections in a childcare environment: reducing the spread of disease and protecting children and the professionals who care for them.
  • Respond to severe allergic reactions in children: recognition and management of anaphylactic reactions, including proper use of epinephrine auto-injectors.

Instruction, assessments and practice

4.1 Theoretical instruction

It is essential to complete all provided readings before progressing. After each section, you must click the « COMPLETED » button. An interactive medical glossary is available: highlighted terms offer an information bubble and a link to a full definition.

"Explanations" sections — Optional but recommended

These sections offer additional details not assessed on the tests, but can significantly improve your ability to apply the skills in real situations.

4.2 Theoretical assessments

At the end of each module, a multiple-choice quiz must be completed within 60 minutes. Minimum required score: 80%. Up to 10 attempts allowed. A "Need a hint?" button is available during the assessments.

Intervention in case of repeated failures

If you do not pass the test after 10 attempts, a direct intervention with an ARCPR instructor will be necessary to identify and address the difficulties encountered.

4.3 Practical sessions

Before each practical session, you will be guided in building a CPR mannequin using everyday objects. An animated video guides participants through each step of the maneuvers. Our automated system tracks time spent on each session — progress is blocked until the session is fully completed. The ARCPR mobile app is available as an additional support tool at all times.

5 — Deadline management

From the date of purchase, you have 10 weeks to complete the entire program. Inactivity of more than 10 weeks results in a temporary suspension of your file. To reactivate your access, contact ARCPR at [email protected].

7 — ARCPR evaluation

Confidential summative evaluations are conducted during the training to measure teaching effectiveness. A confidential overall evaluation is carried out at the conclusion. Your feedback can be sent to: [email protected]

Upon completion of the training, once all assessments have been passed, an official « First Aider – Adapted to Early Childhood (8h) » certificate will be issued to you in electronic format, immediately available for download, emailing, or printing.
